April 2nd- Update on Lisa

Lisa is finally home, and is doing well. She is resting now, and not going back to work until next week. To repair the hole that the doctors found in her heart is going to require open heart surgery. The cost of this procedure is $120,000 and currently the insurance company is saying that they will not cover it. They are claiming that open heart surgery is an elective surgery that is not covered by her insurance. The alternatives to the surgery is a research group testing new equipment, but the chances of something seriously going wrong is one in two participants. However, this surgery is using the newest technology, and will only cost $30,000. So we are in a bit of a situation trying to figure out what to do... The only other option is waiting until she has a second stroke, in which case the insurance company will pay for the surgery. The only problem with this is that the next stroke may be more serious, and could leave her permanently disabled if it affects certain parts of the brain.
